@DoctorEldritch I had my fair share of failed downloads in the past and it happened due to unexpected blackouts. It's so annoying when it happens.

If you use STEAM to download games you can pause the download but in order to download it safely without losing the downloaded part, do the following steps….

1- Right click on the game in steam > properties > updates > select ‘only update this game when launching it under Automatic updates

2- Always pause the download and exit steam (right-click on the steam tray icon and select ‘exit’) before shutting down the PC.

If you log in to STEAM you can continue downloading the game by just clicking on the update to continue.

Yea office LANs were fun. We also had a few at work. When I worked in an office for a medical company we normally would close doors on a Friday at midday. It was one of the perks we had as employees. Some went home and I and a few others stay behind and set up a LAN.

We'd order pizza a played Quake, Doom and Unreal Tournament against each other.

We call console gamers Couch Goblins! 😂 I have nothing against console players. They in return call us Desktop Bouncers! It is still an ongoing battle which is considered better. Consoles or Pcs.

@DracoTarot Thanks for the advice! Nowadays my internet and electricity are more stable, but it is good to know, seeing how heavy HL is, in the future, there will likely be many games that would take longer to download. I think it is worth making a separate entry with just this advice in the Help thread so it would not get lost even.

Ah, in our case, it was during working hours. Sometimes in overtime even, which we laughed about because a whole office of 20 young adults would stay at work till 2 am playing CoD and be paid extra for it. Amusing though it was, it was still actual work, but still, the irony made it easier.

Never heard about either of those terms, to be honest, Couch Goblins or Desktop Bouncers are both new to me. I'd say I am on team PC, I never had a console. My brother, on the other hand, has a console and a PC and he is usually playing a PC laptop from a couch. I guess he has a mixed heritage.

@DoctorEldritch I wish I could say the same. The power crisis we face is going to go on for a very long time. There are still no solutions and everyone's fighting over what needs to be done. Our president declared the power issue as a national state of disaster.

A separate entry sounds like a good idea. I'll post some hints and tips in the Help thread.

There are so many terms we use in the gaming community and Couch Goblins and Desktop Bouncers are not the only ones. There are many more and some may be offensive depending on the whole scenario.

It's all part of having a bit of fun and no one holds a grudge. In the end, we are all gamers no matter if you are a PC or console gamer or both.

@DracoTarot There is always something wrong somewhere. National disaster does not sound good, but maybe awarding the situation this status will help to raise awareness and more aid? Or are they still not willing to accept aid from others?

I think we could make a game out of it in a separate post: list all those gaming terms and see if members here know or can guess what it is. And this way, you can even educate people about the situations when those terms may be offensive, it could be that not everyone knows that, could be interesting and useful.

@DoctorEldritch " Or are they still not willing to accept aid from others?" Yep, they're still self-centred and think they are more than capable of fixing the issue by themselves which is not the case at all.

A new threat with gaming terms can work and it would be nice to see what other members guess and come up with.

At the moment I'm not a very fast typer and it may take a while to do a thread from my side. I either dislocated my should or tore a tenant or have a hairline crack on my shoulder blade. I'm in such pain.

We had a lot of rain the past few days and our roof is leaking. Somehow when I claimed into the roof to look where the leaks are I got injured.

Going to see a doc tomorrow morning. It has been 3 days and the pain is getting worse.

@DracoTarot Oh my, that does sound horrible. Hope the doctor will be able to give you something for the pain and you'll feel better soon. Does it hurt all the time or only when you're moving?

@DoctorEldritch I also hope the Dr will give me some strong meds to help with the pain and I mean help with the pain and not only ease it. It's like constant pain. It literally feels like I took an arrow in the shoulder and someone is twisting and turning the arrow to torture me nonstop.

If I lie down I'm unable to get up again. the only way is to turn slowly onto my stomach and push myself up from the bed.

I'm like a 90-year-old with all the moaning and groaning. 😅

    Going off my mind here!!

Life is Life Na Na Na Na Na!! I'll get over it. 😊

@DracoTarot At least you have a diagnosis now and can act accordingly. Wishing you a good recovery!
