@DoctorEldritch I would mainly use discarded materials. It would cost me nothing and finding the materials to make the lanterns would be easy. Plastic spoons and bags are in abundance, especially in our local parks and recreation areas.

@LilySensei 😂 if the game had a victim role I would be chosen as one. It seems I always have a bullseye on my back. 😁

@DracoTarot Just make sure to clean them thoroughly and make it clear to others that you dig in garbage for artistic purposes.

@DoctorEldritch Cleaning them would be my most important priority. I will soak the bags and spoons in some surgical alcohol. The alcohol will also rid the bags and spoons of their original colours. The material must be all white and transparent just like a new freshly made canvas.

The sad part is I have no need to dig to find materials. They are all over the place. Lying around in our streets by the masses. No one cares, We as a community tried to clean our neighbourhood to no avail. Two days later it would look the same. Not even giving out fines helped.

@DracoTarot You have some surgical alcohol just lying around?

That is sad. Do you think the Broken windows theory applies there? If you tried as a community, then where does it come from?

@DoctorEldritch I do have some surgical alcohol yes. My neighbour uses alcohol for his work. He has a printing company and cleans the print head with it.

The Broken windows theory does apply. Citizens don't care anymore because the people supposed to manage and maintain don't care anymore.

Our current situation is as follows:

No service delivery whatsoever. We are between nine to twelve hours a day without electricity. Then they blame us as citizens for their failures. To rub it in they approve another 35% increase in electricity prices. Fuel is going up next week by 9%. Current job losses are estimated at 2.6% per month due to business closing.

Because of the mental, physical and emotional distress caused, people have a don't care attitude.

I personally know of people who have completely given up. Pushed their passions and even hobbies aside. They literally just wake up in the morning, drink a cup of coffee, sit around the whole day and go to bed. Once brilliant individuals with so much to offer have fallen apart.

The Alcohol is legal by the way 😂. I can buy it at any pharmacy. 😊

@DoctorEldritch Another passive hobby would be sorting out my garden and vegetables.

@DracoTarot Not really sure if it is active or passive, to be honest. Growing new plants and changing layout has a creative element to it enough to make it an active hobby, maybe?

Using discarded materials for your lantern-making hobby sounds like a great way to be resourceful and eco-friendly. It's awesome that you can find plenty of plastic spoons and bags in local parks and recreation areas. Repurposing them for your lanterns not only costs you nothing but also contributes to reducing waste.

@kdbgsv It is always good to think about the environment when doing your hobbies. @DracoTarot has a hobby that perhaps is more eco-friendly than others and has a substantial positive impact, and it is good if you have a hobby that can has such a positive effect on the environment, if only in a small personal way. If not, then at least best to make sure your hobby does as little damage to the environment as possible.
