I watched the trailer and it looks really nice. I get that some people might be disappointed about the lack of Batman, but I guess otherwise the other characters would've been in his shadow. Right now the game is too expensive for me (joys of adult life and having to constantly prioritise things), but I'd grab it on a sale and play it.

@M2lobaz to be completely fair, it is not the full breakdown, there were some "spin-offs" to the main games with Brotherhood of Steel games and that mobile "Fallout Shelter" game, not to mention the upcoming series they're filming. But those sin-offs, too, were isometric, so I do not know that much about them. I would try Shelter, but I am not too big on mobile games imported to PC.

But you're quite right, it is good to try new things eventually. I did like Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, I honestly do not know why I have this distaste towards isometric RPGs, but I would try some notable genre examples like Disco Elysium to see if I can get into it at some point. After I am done with other games on my list.

@Saka That is true, but they could play around with it differently. For example, Nightwing operates mainly in Blüdhaven, not Gotham, not to mention Batgirl had her very own Batcave there, too. Sure, in this game, Gotham was left defender-less and vulnerable, so they had to team up, but developers could have done it differently and moved the whole game to another iconic city. Blüdhaven is not featured in video games as much (I think, at all), and it could have been a bold "fresh material" move. But not this time.

I think your strategy is good, I never play games like this just as they come out either. I wait for all the DLCs to come out. Arkham Knight had some extra stories in DLC format, both standalone and in the main game (with Croc and Freeze), so I think that this game will have some as well. Makes sense to wait, and you're right, it should be cheaper then.

Sad news, I am afraid. Batman is dead not only in Gotham Knights but also in real life now, too. Yesterday (10/11/2022) the voice actor Kevin Conroy who voiced Batman in the Arkham trilogy, as well as some DC animations (and even live in the 2019 Arrowverse crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths") died.

    RIP voice of Dark Knight.
