Buonasera a tutti amici della community,
apro questo thread, simile al precedente, sperando mi possiate dare qualche dritta.
Dopo aver lavorato di fino con ventilazione e cable management purtroppo continuo a riscontare temperature abbastanza elevate lato cpu durante le sessioni gaming.
Vi allego dei valori riscontrati giocando ad Horizon.
PREMESSE
- Il laptop è un Legion 5I 2020 (scheda tecnica allegata)
- La temperatura interna della stanza è condizionata e oscilla tra i 27 e i 30 gradi
- La ventilazione è ottimizzata utilizzando una base d'appoggio pulita che lascia scoperta la griglia d'aerazione, supportata da una mensola di altezza circa 6/7 cm sopra la quale è posizionato un ventilatore orizzontale che raffredda direttamente il flusso in entrata. Assenza di cavi a vista, passano tutti sopra e dietro per finire in una rete metallica posizionata sotto la scrivania (foto allegata)
- La prova è stata eseguita in modalità Performance, con i set grafici Ultra e utilizzando un monitor esterno Qhd
Le temperature riscontrate lato Cpu oscillano mediamente tra i 75 e gli 85 gradi (con qualche punta sporadica sui 90) ed un utilizzo medio della stessa di circa il 40% (foto allegate)
Tutto questo poema per chiedervi, infine: esistono modalità per ottimizzare queste temperature senza necessariamente andare ad abbassare i set grafici? In giro ho letto di tecniche come undervolt o intervenire direttamente sulla pasta termica ma non sono molto pratico.
Sicuramente le due opzioni da te lette sono entrambe valide, ma entrambe richiedono diversi tipi di conoscenze ed esperienza.
Partiamo dicendo che per la serie 10 di Intel non sei lontanissimo con le temperature, come anche col tuo modello ( 2020 ). Si può migliorare, ma non aspettarti di andare sotto gli 80° facilmente. Sono laptop studiati anche per sostenere queste temperature. Valuta che anche la GPU e la CPU, essendo vicine, comunque disperderanno calore parzialmente all'interno e riscalderanno l'altro componente indirettamente.
Riguardo l'undervolt: è una operazione di base non troppo complessa ( si fa con dei programmi ) ma si fa con vari tentativi, varia da PC a PC ( anche se io avessi il tuo stesso identico modello avrei valori diversi perchè dipende proprio dalla qualità del silicio usato, che è un fattore proprio intrinseco del materiale ). Non te lo raccomando molto, anche perchè appunto richiede sia la coscienza di prendere un rischio ( avrai schermate blu e instabilità nella ricerca dei valori ) sia perchè, appunto, non immediato da capire e da effettuare.
Riguardo la pasta termica, invece, si tratta di sostituirla fisicamente all'interno del tuo laptop, quindi smontandolo. Se hai un negozio di fiducia locale, credo che ti possono fare il lavoro chiedendoti non più della tariffa base di intervento ( la pasta non ha costi particolari, si faranno pagare il tempo impiegato, che sarà sulla mezzora se sono competenti ). È la strada che ti consiglio di più e che, a prescindere, farei a prescindere perchè se sono quasi due anni che non è cambiata allora probabilmente adesso sarà consumata.
Nota finale: nei primissimi avvii con la nuova pasta termica avrai temperature anche più alte, ed è naturale perchè deve semplicemente ben aderire tra i componenti. Solitamente non passano più di 2-3 giorni prima di vedere i risultati, con utilizzo normale di 6-8 ore al giorno.
@Lascax si tra le due opzioni sarei più orientato per il cambio di pasta termica, a meno che non mi faccia dare una mano da un amico che lavorava sui pc e che è molto più smanettone di me e sa come muoversi anche in questi casi. Altra cosa che ho letto è la possibilità di disabilitare il Turbo Boost di Intel dal BIOS, però non essendo pratico non so se è una cosa buona da tentare.
@Zerathul In teoria, se funziona come i normali TurboBoost, si può fare anche in modo più semplice.
Dalle opzioni di alimentazione puoi modificare la % di potenza che il processore deve avere se in carica o se in batteria. Se imposti al 99% stai disabilitando il Turbo Boost in gran parte dei casi, che si attiva appunto nel pieno carico. Ovviamente ciò significa anche rinunciare a parte della potenza della CPU ( anche un buon 25% ), però nei giochi è molto meno rilevante.
Comunque fai una prova. In ogni caso cambiare la pasta termica, a mio modesto parere, è quasi d'obbligo.
@Lascax la buona notizia è che ho risolto il problema, è stato sufficiente disabilitare il Turbo Boost.
Non so quanto incida sulle prestazioni ma ora sto tra i 55 e i 60 gradi 😮

Io stavo curiosando nel Lenovo Vantage ed ho visto il menu Thermal Mode: quale settaggio consigliate?
@Lascax con il mio Legion 5 Pro 6th Gen, secondo te per quando devo pianificare un aggiornamento pasta termica dopo un utilizzo costante ma non per piu' di 3 ore al giorno di gaming? 2, 3 anni?
@Wersus Ho letto solo adesso! Stranamente non mi è arrivata la notifica.
Riguardo la modalità, solitamente anche andare di sola Balance Mode dovrebbe dare sufficiente potenza per il gioco e non attivare i Boost. Se si lascia lavorare al Lenovo AI Engine si potrebbe però attivare quando rileva alcuni giochi, anche se la lascerei comunque attiva per vedere come si comporta.

Il file che propone nella descrizione l'ho controllato ed è legittimo, ma se si è proprio diffidenti l'autore del video ha messo un modo per modificare la voce nel registro di sistema di Windows personalmente.
Riguardo la pasta termica, direi che ogni anno si dovrebbe perlomeno valutare in periodo pre-estivo, circa Maggio, così da esser pronti. Quando cominciano ad alzarsi le temperature se si nota che in effetti il PC ha temperature semi-costanti sugli 85-90° ingame o persino in aggiunta prestazioni inferiori ( nel framerate dei giochi avviati più spesso è facile accorgersene ) allora bisognerebbe farlo, senza remore.
Solitamente si va a pulire con alcool isopropilico la pasta termica già presente con un cotton fiocc sia su GPU che su CPU, e poi applicare il famoso chicco di riso o, meglio ancora se capaci, spatolare leggermente uno strato lungo la superficie senza strabordare.
Come ho detto altrove, ricordate che agli inizi le temperature saranno un pelo più alte per il tempo necessario alla giuzione totale sotto pressione tra i componenti. Solitamente il terzo giorno già si hanno gli effetti positivi.
Con un utilizzo moderato, comunque, si può anche arrivare a 2 anni, ma se possibile farlo prima lo sconsiglio ( a meno di remore per garanzie e di causare problemi, ma non è una operazione così complessa in realtà e qualunque negozio un pelo esperto può farla per voi in mezzora senza problemi, se avete ancora timori ). Il problema è che dopo un po' tale pasta si secca naturalmente e la sua dissipazione può calare di efficacia abbastanza rapidamente. E poi è anche una scusa per spolverare, che io faccio comunque ogni 2-3 mesi.
Nota finale: di recente sono usciti dei thermal pads molto sottili che sembrano una valida alternativa alla pasta termica, ma non ho avuto modo di testarli su laptop, ma li terrei d'occhio. Non costano molto e un tentativo lo farei: basta pulire le superfici, ritagliare perfettamente il pad e incollarlo.
A questo punto, avendo avuto una sola settimana di estate a Londra, credo di stare tranquillo fino a maggio prossimo. Metto in calendario anche ti testare queste interessanti thermal pads. Magri qualcuno nel frattempo le prova... qualcuno a caso 🤣
@Wersus Hahaha, vedremo, forse l'anno prossimo se metto i pads o la pasta farò un video apposito.
Comunque mi sono informato e i thermal pads adatti al momento sono solo di un tipo e vengono dall'Asia ( perchè devono essere sottili abbastanza ).
Direi che chi vuole fare un tentativo è meglio che sia esperto o appunto aspetti conferme e prove altrui.
@Lascax fatto un pò di prove, senza privarmi del boost e giocando in modalità Bilanciato non vedo praticamente quasi mai gli 80 gradi, resto tra 71-79 con i dettagli grafici al massimo. Ci può stare secondo me, anche perchè non ne faccio un uso intenso (un paio di ore di gaming 2/3 volte a settimana).
Senza boost mi sembrava di perdere un pò troppo, alla fine tra Bilanciato e Performance se ho capito bene lo scarto in termini di prestazioni è minimo. Prossima primavera mi attrezzo per il cambio di pasta termica, o se il budget lo consente passo al 5 Pro (magari 🤤😂)

Legion Community enables its registered users (the “Users") to post and share content, such as information about Lenovo products, services, events, social media activity and videos ("Content”) to the Platform.
Legion Community is provided by Lenovo through the services of Standing on Giants subject to these Terms (“Terms”). We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time and without notice. If we amend the Terms, we will post the amended Terms on this page and indicate at the top of the page the date the Terms were last revised. Your continued use of the Platform after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
By accessing or using Legion Community you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, then you should not access or use the Platform.
Lenovo’s decision in relation to any aspect of Legion Community and these Terms is final and binding.
Your Use of Legion Community Platform
ELIGIBILITY. This Program is open to Participants who are age 18 years or older at the time of entry. This Program is not open to: (1) employees or internally contracted vendors of [Client] or its parent/subsidiaries, agents or affiliates; (2) the immediate family members or members of the same household of any such employee or vendor; (3) anyone professionally involved in the development or administration of this Program; (4) employees or internally contracted vendors of governments and government-affiliated companies or organizations; or (5) any employee whose employer's guidelines or regulations do not allow entry in the Program. Your use of the information and Content available on the Platform is subject to the following restrictions:
You must not modify or remove any and all copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices contained in the Content.
You must not modify the Content in any way or reproduce or publicly display, perform, or distribute or otherwise use the Content for any commercial purpose.
No title or ownership rights in the Content or any intellectual property rights therein are transferred to you under these Terms. Your Content Posted or Linked to Legion Community
Lenovo allows you to submit posts or link content to Legion Community, including photos, images, videos, sounds, comments, links, tweets, likes, and other materials. A Legion Community moderator will moderate all posts after publication. Lenovo reserves the right to remove user’s content that it considers to be irrelevant to the purpose of the platform, or that it considers violates any of these Terms. Lenovo may also post or link to the Platform any of your Content that you make available to Lenovo for the Platform. You are solely responsible for your Content that is posted or linked to the Platform and Lenovo accepts no liability for your Content.
You grant Lenovo and other users of the Platform a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to use, store, display, reproduce, modify, create derivative works of, perform, publish, re-post, re-tweet, and distribute your Content on or in connection with the Platform.
You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary in your Content for it to be on or available from the Platform, and that the posting and use of your Content on or through the Platform does not violate, misappropriate or infringe on the rights of any third party, including, without limitation, privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, trademark and/or other intellectual property rights. Representations and Warranties
You represent and warrant that:
(a) You will abide by and comply with these Terms;

Compliance
When using Legion Community, you will comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and all terms of use and similar rules concerning your use of any Social Media Outlet or other third party publishing platform.
Upon our request made to you from time to time, you will cooperate with us and allow us access to your systems, communications, and records solely in connection with determining your compliance with these Terms.
Visiting Third Party Websites
The Platform may contain links to third party websites, advertisers, products, services, offers, or other events or activities that are not owned or controlled by Lenovo. Lenovo does not assume any responsibility for any such third party sites, information, materials, products, services or offers. If you access any third party website, product, service, or content from the Platform, you do so at your own risk and you agree that Lenovo will have no liability arising from your use of or access to any third party website, product, service, or content.
Trademarks and Ownership of Intellectual Property
Lenovo™, the Lenovo logo, and certain other product names and phrases are trademarks or service marks of Lenovo in the U.S. and/or other countries. The absence of a trademark or service mark designation next to a product or service name or logo belonging to Lenovo anywhere on the Platform does not constitute a waiver of Lenovo’s trademark or other intellectual property rights concerning that name or logo used or referenced on the Platform.
The Platform contains content owned or licensed by Lenovo ("Lenovo Content"). Lenovo Content is protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret and other laws, and, as between you and Lenovo, Lenovo owns and retains all copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent and other intellectual property rights in and to Lenovo Content and the Platform (the “Intellectual Property”). Lenovo reserves all rights in the Lenovo Content and Intellectual Property not expressly granted in these Terms. Termination
You may terminate use of the Platform at any time for any reason (in other words, un-register). Lenovo may terminate or suspend your right to use the Platform at any time, with or without cause or notice to you. Lenovo may terminate the Platform at any time without notice. Upon termination, all licenses and other rights granted to you in these Terms will immediately cease. Following termination, Lenovo may retain your Content for a commercially reasonable period of time for backup, archival, or audit purposes. Furthermore, Lenovo and its other users may retain and continue to use, store, display, reproduce, modify, create derivative works of, perform, and distribute any of your Content that other users have stored or shared through the Platform.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Lenovo and its employees, officers, affiliates and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including without limitation, reasonable attorney's fees and costs, arising out of or in any way connected with any of the following: (i) Your Content or your misuse of the Platform; (ii) your breach or alleged breach of these Terms; (iii) your violation of any third party right, including without limitation, any intellectual property right, publicity, confidentiality, property or privacy right; (iv) your violation of any laws, rules, regulations, codes, statutes, ordinances or orders of any governmental authorities, including, without limitation, all regulatory, administrative and legislative authorities; or (v) any misrepresentation made by you. You will cooperate as reasonably requested by Lenovo with respect to any such claim. Lenovo reserves the right to assume control of the defence or settlement of any such claim, and you will not in any event settle any such claim without the prior written consent of Lenovo.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England.
Entire Agreement; Severability
These Terms, together with Lenovo’s Data Privacy Policy and any amendments and any additional agreements you may enter into with Lenovo in connection with the Platform, shall constitute the entire agreement between you and Lenovo concerning the Platform. If any provision of these Terms is deemed invalid, then that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.
Limitations of Liability
Neither Lenovo nor its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, third party content providers, sponsors, or licensors warrant that the Site will be continuous, uninterrupted or error-free. THE PLATFORM, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ITS CONTENT, IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, LENOVO HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ANY WARRANTIES BASED ON A COURSE OF DEALING.
