I have ADD and have an extremely hard time dealing with people in real life. Unfortunately my son inherited this illness too. However we found that online friendships within the gaming community can be just as valuable as the ones in real life. Most importantly it has given my son much needed confindence in himself.

gaming has bean a large part of my life, even thou we never have had enough money to get any games, I still manage to play games. the first time I ever played a game, I was in 1 grade, about 7 years old. my older brother moved inn to our house and had a PS 2, that I used to play on.

my first gaming platform was a used Xbox 360, that my older brother had before me.

gaming was the only thing that got me thru depression in middle school, so without those games I don't think I would be here to day.
and without gaming I don't think I would know how to talk English as well as I do now.

now I play on my pc

So gaming have meant the World to me. Without it I wouldn't have been where I am today.

At a young age (19) I was diagnosed with cancer and had to go trough kemo theropy for over a half year, doing that time I had to pay rent and bills, and because of some 💙💙💙💙💙💙 rules (which now have been changed) I couldnt get any income. I built Up a debt as well as a small depression from body pain, my fraid of dying and my debt. I seeked to gaming and found Lots of nice friends both ingame and outside the game. We had hours of fun in games and I forgot about my pain and sadness.

After getting back Up on my feet I lost my dad (he was only 49). Again I went into a depression for almosy 1 and a half year and got 'saved' again by gaming.

The possibility to go into anothet World that you can enjoy and find friends ... It means EVRRYTHING.

    Best Regards,
    Ziuxdk / Jesper

It has given me plenty of skills that revolve around using a computer, solving issues with both hardware and software.

As a person, I would not have the level of English without gaming and even more so, it has helped me through plenty of tough times.

Gaming for me has vastly increased my English skills, grammar especially!
My parents used to fight and argue a lot when I was younger and I hated it but when I was busy gaming I would shut out all the noise and submerge myself into “another dimension” if you will and enjoy my own company. So in that way Gaming pretty much taught me to be more independent!

I've been an avid gamer ever since I was little
The reason for that surely isn't a riddle
Games have brought me limitless pleasure
And the other benefits almost too vast to measure

First springs to mind the gift of words,
I've learned from stories and chatting to fellow nerds
Learning English no more seemed like a chore
But like a key to friendship and hoards of lore

The untold stories I've lived though in games
Have opened up my brain, unlocked the chains
My imagination outshines what it once was
And to me it's clear: games are the cause

That's not to mention the improvements in logic
Which shows to me that games are also pedagogic
Learning to solve puzzles has become second nature
And "real world" problems more manageable, I wager

As a shy guy I've always lacked in social skills
Cue in online multiplayer and racking up kills
It becomes so much easier to overcome ones fears
When surrounded by a crowd of supportive peers

Gaming to me is more than just fine
It brings people together from far and wide
The benefits we get from it can't be outdone
And not to mention, it's simply a lot of fun

These are the points where gaming has evolved me :-)

    1. Hand eye coordination (I told you so, mom) - I've got great reflexes, which I ascribe at least in part to video games
    2. Problem solving - I've played many varieties of puzzle-games, all the way back from Sokoban to Portal to Machinarium, and they've helped me evolve from an impatient little boy into a (more) patient grown up (boy), crushing real life challenges with a gaming-upgraded braintoolkit ;-p
    3. Tenacity / grit - whether it's the original Super Mario Brothers, where you had to survive all the way to Bowser's castle and die out 50 times before starting again from the beginning or it's the modern versions of this kind of control-your-emotions-it's-just-a-game-...game like Dark Souls. The fight to complete hard tasks and never give up is directly relatable to real life situations
    4. Camaraderie - Now, I am playing with my friends online and sharing these experiences together. A lot of us have kids now and live far apart, but we meet online, we have fun, we spend time evolving together. We also talk about life and feelings and problems (thank you TeamSpeak/Discord)
    5. Creativity and design were essential in Sim City and Rollercoaster Tycoon, and it's central now in Minecraft and Terraria - I'm a teacher now, and I often get creative with my students, based on ideas originating from game content.
    6. Showcasing ideas, creating content for others to evolve from. More and more games are becoming ubiquitous and a common shared experience. Has this evolved me? Maybe not yet, but it might :-)

I hope to win, since my current gaming pc is getting old and most of our money is spent wisely on house, kids and family.
