On a very general level, I sometimes find it very hard to define myself as a gamer. And I dont want to sound like "no one understands me", like i am special or different in some way. I am not special, and I know that it is common to have feelings of not belonging or not beeing understod deep enough. But what I mean is that I don't feel like I fit into any of the categories of gamers, in the categories I have to choose from. See, I am a girl. And as a girl playing, people are either going to place me under the label as a ”pick me girl/cool girl” who pretends to like games to please men or get the attention of some guy, or my other option: to be a true ”gamer girl”. Obviosly I dont want to be the first kind, gaming has been a part of my life since before i knew you could kiss boys without getting ”boy bacills” haha. And even if I would like to sometimes, I don’t feel like i fit into the whole concept of "gamer girl". I am not a tech geek, more like a geek geek(the bad kind), I know barely nothing about how to code or hack, my estethic style does not fit the image of a gamer girl, I am not rebelious nor some kind of main character born to be an entertainer. I'm simply a girl who plays games, nothing more nothing less.

Sometimes, but not as often anymore, I feel like an outsider in this big gaming community, because my kind doesnt really have a place. As much as I sometimes dont feel like I belong, or that i am not interested enough or good enough at the things i should as a gamer, I love the world of gaming. I can't really describe it when every aspect of my life somehow ties back to gaming. I know now that I deserve to be a part of the community as much as anyone else. Gaming has always been part of my life, in different forms. It has been the go to escape for me. I can , for just a moment, focus on something else and distract myself from whatever is going on in the real world. For me, gaming became a place where I could escape my comittments, my life and my mental health conditions when things were tough.

Gaming has indeed become more than a hobby for myself and a lot of people. It is a lifestyle, and what i learned is that the critique or lack of space when I dont feel like i fit the mold is comming from the outside, the real world. In game, you dont have to be a certain type of person, with certain skills and personality traits to identify with the lifestyle of gaming. In fact, the world and community of gaming might be the one place where you can choose exactly who you want to be, and be accepted wheather or not you fit the mold.

To me, saying that gaming has evolved me would be an understatement. In some ways, I learned more about life, other people and the world through the screen than in real life. And to be honest, gaming is what made me into who I am, as much as it allowed me to be who I want to be.

I have always been the one talking with the enemy team or all chat person. I have found many new friends from many diffrent games.

Gaming have giving me a better connection with friends and even friends friends. And when i like to be home more then out in town, it have giving me joy and time for my peoples.

Gaming have been one off the only option in a damaged and unstable family that gave me the time i needed to disconnect from everything around me.

Gaming for me has made me who I am, ive played game since i was years old, now I'm 27.

I've met lots of people, friends and even a girlfriend before, but it didn't last.

I started too play Sega, nintendo and PS1 in my childhood, so much nostalgic memories with some games and friend, we played all day long, everything from James bond 007, Tony hawk, spyro, Zelda and crash bandicoot.. Everything.

When I got older I continued my journey through the games, when games hot possible to play online with friends and others it all become even better, everyday you can get in contact with new people, find friends, love and unfortunately even enemies.

    I've had em all,

But personally for me gaming helps me relax, it helps my ADHD when I'm too speedy or angry an online session with csgo and friends helps me alot.
Now I don't have a pc anymore and I can feel that something is missing in my life.

Now I'm a father too two kids and I'm teaching them too play some console Such as Playstation and they love it, especially my son that is four years old.. So quick learning he can't stop. I guess they have it in them after me such as I got it from my father.

It runs in the family and I/we would love to be able to game again, especially on a pc.. Some csgo would be awesome again!

Gaming has helped med with real world problem solving. For example, In SimCity, players have to lay out and plan a city, and must think ahead to consider how something like the tax rate may help or hurt the growth of their city, or how street planning and certain zones may impact growth. Wii Fit have i used as exercise.

But most importaint is the social aspect. A perfect example is the pandemic. We hasnt been sitting alone for hours, gamers hasnt necessarily been isolated. In many cases, far from it. With the rise of social media, gamers – particularly in Gen Z – have perfected the art of building communities in and around video games. Gamers don’t just compete with strangers on the internet, but forge genuine, enduring friendships.

I have also learned a LOT of english from gaming, mostly from Minecraft.
My reaction skills and ability to think fast has also evolved due to gaming.

To sum up, gaming has been an important part for me when it comes to developing specific abilities and my development as a person.

Gaming has made my social skills so much better. Because of my sickness it’s also easier to find friends and be social at all. I have a sickness called cerebral parese, which means that I am dependent of a wheelchair. It’s not that easy to make friends because people look and judge in seconds. But when I play I can be a whatever version of myself i want, no one judges and we all just have fun playing. I have found so many amazing people and I am very grateful for them. Of course gaming has also made my english skills stronger since i talk with so many different people from all over the world.
I use my time on something i actually want to do when play and it’s just so much fun.
