Playing has made me evolve in many different ways, like computer skills, social skills, language skills and also music skills. I have learned to cowork with other people trough raids and campaigns. I have got over my social shyness in calls and video calls, because we needed to use voice calls to better play online instead of writing. I have also become a lot faster writer with keyboard because one can't be a slow writer in a battle against bosses.

Musical skills have evolved trough games like GuitarHero, Rocksmith and Lips and now I create music with my computer. Games like Minecraft and other sandbox games have helped with creativity and understanding 3D modeling. Besides playing with building blocks as an adult is extremely entertaining .
Computer skills have got better after several game installs and uninstalls, crashes and finding lost game data, removing viruses etc. Some games need strategy skills, planning ahead and such, lots of fast thinking and choosing the right options. Language skills have improved especially in English because it is not my native, and most games are using English as the default language. Most people also understand it and use it as their communication language online. I have also learned about different cultures trough realistic games and from the different people around the world I have met in the online games. I have learned to cooperate with people only temporarily without needing to get to know them, just helping and then move on. In general games have given me a lot of joy and fun, especially with other people.

    How has gaming evolved you?

Gaming and the culture built around it has helped me to evolve into a better version of me. Through the connections made through gaming I have gained valuable relationships and experiences, which I would have otherwise missed out on.

We, gamers are a truly LEGIONdary bunch of people and I am forever grateful for all the support and encouragement received from our community. Especially during the trying times we have all been affected by during the past few years.

Learning, adapting and evolving is a never-ending process and it is amazing to have this technology available to share the journey with fellow gamers!

I became a wheelchair user after a fall accident in 2016.And after having a long mental breakdown. In 2020 I bought a used Lenovo M83 Gamer.Have I found the joy in life by playing online games and playing computer games in general. So games and my kids, has a very big place in my life. And has given me greater quality of life.Since I can no longer walk / run and play ball with my children. Now I can play with them at the computer.I have played a little always, but after my accident. Is that one of the few things I can do with my kids.So gaming has given me joy of life and company with my children.

I remember the first time I popped the disc to Final Fantasy VII into my PS1. It was a couple of seminal moments, like watching the intro cinematic and taking the first steps into Midgar. Hearing the symphonic midi orchestra in Tifas bar, interacting with the NPC’s in sector 7 and the realisation that what I was experiencing was something entirely new. Sure, my family owned a NES and I had spent countless hours playing Super Mario Bros 3, but the feeling of being in control of what was happening to the story and characters, and the carefully crafted illusion that my choices was impacting this little world in front of me. That blew my 13 year old mind.

This memory comes up from time to time, and I’ve always felt strongly that it changed my life, in the same way that the first immersive meeting with literature, cinema and music did. The experience of being in control of the narrative and the feeling that YOU are creating the story as you’re going along can open doors to new worlds. It has since become a guiding principle in my life to try to empower others with the same feeling when I can, regardless if it’s guiding a student through the joy of writing a short story or leading a group of young adventurers through their first adventure in Dungeons and Dragons.

It made me better with guitar and drumming skills, and improved my reflexes a lot. all that Geometry Dash and FPS game playing got me better and more accurate with my fingers and hands. Able to play metal and whatever now, and gaming got me maany new friends that i meet online and in real life because i have more topics to talk about. When i was young i also got a big head start in english class from playing video games, so ironically gaming has improved my life in ways i wouldnt have thought it would 👍

It has evolved me in so many ways.

Connecting with people. I've met so many wonderful people across the world, and it has taught me valuable social skills. Most of all how to cooperate to get things done. Nothing trains you better than a group of 50 people getting pummeled by a dragon.

Language skills. I struggled to learn English in school, but games helped me learn. First of all from reading all the quest and item text, but also from talking to my guild mates on Ventrilo back in the days before Discord. Today I speak English with confidence, and love it. I'm even considering moving abroad.

    Grinding. (The videogame kind, lol).
Games are brutal. They knock you down time and time again with enemies showing you no mercy. Sometimes you lose all your items and progress. Others you may be stuck at a level because you aren't strong enough. Games have taught me to percerviere, be patient, and to put the work in to get to my goal of winning the game. This has helped me a lot in the school and workspace. It's easy to quit when things get hard, but games taught me to tough it out.
I learned to set goals, problem solving how to get there, and following through to reach the end.

I would not be the person I am today without the games I grew up with. And Im greatfull for the technology that made it possible
