    Hello Legion Gamers!

Steam is having a Political Sim Fest!

This is not a place to discuss politics, but political sim games are a different matter 😉 Personally, I prefer games like that to be with humorous social commentary, like Tropico (which is on sale too), but there are many choices here for many tastes, for games both alone and with friends. I hear Crisis in the Kremlin: The Cold War may actually cost you a few friends if you decide to play it together 😅

I was also pleasantly surprised that Steam approaches the term "political sim" rather broadly. Beholder or Yes, your Grace are also on sale, interesting choices for the "political sim" umbrella, I thought. Makes me wonder then why Papers, Please or The King is Watching did not make it on the sales list 🤔

I am not sure what everyone's stance on political sim games is. @SKYTRiXSHA, maybe a conflict between Angry Birds and the Piggy kingdom is a political one? 😅 Either way, games are probably a better place for politics than anywhere else 😉 @DracoTarot, @ZaidH, @miskkie, @uptjackmalo, @tntiseverywere, @Telomina, @RatlleRo, @AgariciRo, @Cysero and @GoLLuM13 I'll tag you all in case you want to try your hand in any of these games.

    See anything that you like?

Quite frankly I see too many interesting ones. Better for me to play Crusader Kings III and not spend all my money here hahah.

I prefer philosophical games rather than political but I see a few interesting ones on the list.

    Thanks for the tag.

Only El Prezidente gets to approve things. Penultimo is there to complement the approvals 😉

That is a good thing in itself: you know there are interesting options out there for when you run out of games to play, when you finish Crusader Kings III (if that happens), and you may note down what to hunt for during bigger sales.

Personally, I too thought that there are many interesting ones, but I already played most of them that I wanted: Tropico 6, Beholder, Headliner: NoviNews (that one has more astute social commentary, I thought) were on good sales (like 90%) before, so I played them already.

But such is the thing with Steam fests in my experience: games you want to play you likely played before because they are popular and were part of earlier sales, and newer games you'd want to try do not have a big enough discount yet. But at least those fests can be informative, on rare occasions, you do find something you want to play with a big enough discount. Rarely, though. 😊

Those are not mutually exclusive. One could even argue that politics grew out of philosophy, to an extent, when both of those disciplines were in infancy in ancient Greece. Though in this case, I do not see any with a philosophical angle among the political sims on offer, except for the Beholder, perhaps. It has the philosophy tone of 1984.

Which ones did you find interesting?

@DoctorEldritch Ayyyyyyy welcome back to the community 😁 I hope you had an amazing time! There were so many gaming news drops over the past few weeks, so your presence was definitely missed in the discussions.

Also, thanks a lot for the tag! Rebel Inc looks like it might be from the same devs as Plague Inc, which was such an elite mobile game. I’ll have to check if that’s the case.

@ZaidH Thank you, it is good to be back. Thought I will leave again briefly next week again 😅

It has been very nice, got a lot of hiking done, lost some weight (hopefully it will stay lost and not come right back).

Indeed, I am still catching up to all that's been going on. So far, it seems Silksong is the biggest surprise release of them all. What else is there?

You're welcome, and you're right, Rebel Inc. is by the same devs as Plague Inc, Ndemic Creations. You can see the resemblance, really, though Plague is probably their most iconic game. If you liked it, Rebels may be worth checking out indeed.

@DoctorEldritch Now that sounds like time well spent (and hopefully the good momentum carries into your next break). Hope you packed some protein for the hike, your muscles will definitely thank you for that 😄 Was it through the woods or more of an inclined rocky trail? I haven’t gone hiking myself, so I’m a little confused about which terrains actually count as hiking.

Apart from Silksong, games shown at Gamescom, like Lego Batman (genuinely so hyped for this), Resident Evil Requiem, Ninja Gaiden 4, Silent Hill f were the highlights for me. The Battlefield 6 beta was great fun too. On the rumor side, some sources are saying Insomniac’s Wolverine game might be shown soon.

Oooh that’s nice! I wish my tablet still worked, since Rebel Inc feels like a game that really shines on touch screens.
