    Hello Legion Gamers!

Another week, another Steam Fest 😉 This time, it is #TurnBasedThursday Fest, based on (surprise!) Turn-Based games and presented by (one more surprise!) #TurnBasedThursday :

Similar to the French Direct, it is a third-party event, so the focus here is mixed showcasing and sales. There are some decent offers for some of the older games: Darkest Dungeon or Hard West 1&2 have decent discounts, for example.

Others, like Rogue Trader, are showcased but not discounted. One may say that it was just on offer recently as a part of the SKULLS Fest, but to that I reply, perhaps, but Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters still has a nice discount now, so it makes me wonder. @ChristianRasmussen this may be of interest. Here are a few more discounts:

So another focus here is to show the recent games and some future releases. Which I appreciate because I enjoy this genre but firstly, there are too many games in it, and it can be challenging to grasp what's out there, and secondly, one of the factors that I am looking into, even for Very Positive games, is how long they are. Some are designed to be played for a very long time. In some, I do not mind, Darkest Dungeon is very good even if only a fraction of those who got it actually finished it. In others, it can get tedious somewhat quicker, so it is good to explore a bit before buying, and fests like this help.

This one in particular attempted to group turn-based games by sub-genres. There is one for horror, for example, for you @DracoTarot :

You may also enjoy Deck of Haunts, I tried it recently and it is quite good, though it needs a bit of polishing, as most new games these days. Still, it has a card deck, an option to scare poor mortals as a conscious haunted house, I thought it might tick many boxes for you.

Or @ramax, there is a Visual Novel group, too. For perusing:

And this is not all! On their own site, #TurnBasedThursday has a whole calendar of streaming events for in-depth looks at many of these games. @Telomina, this may be of interest to you, from an organisational viewpoint, I thought it is an interesting way to do it.

And finally, as a cherry on top (and a thank you for reading this far 😅), Steam is having a giveaway for Hellslave, until the 16th of June you can get it for free! @miskkie, @tntiseverywere , @AgariciRo , @RatlleRo , @uptjackmalo and @GoLLuM13 I'll tag you all for a fre game. Hopefully, something in the fest will be of interest to you all, but even if not, at least there's a free game in it 😉

    Anything catches your eye?

Love me some turn based games. Let's see if anything catches my eye...

@miskkie I love them too, but there are so many these days. I am looking into Cyber Knights Flashpoint, it is Very Positive on Steam and overall seems a good premise. The only caveat is, I prefer turn-based games with a grid, where all moves have a square like a giant chessboard. This one seems to be somewhat less fixed. But I may give it a go.

@GoLLuM13 You're welcome! See anything good?

I was hoping to spot something turn-based in Genshin Impact aesthetics for you, but the closest game that came to it was TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children. And that one too does not fit the style exactly (it is more of a Persona vibe, I guess), and what's worse, does not even have a discount 😅

Still, it could be interesting in the sense that it is by a Korean studio. We don't get to see games from there that often.

@DoctorEldritch I'm always in the mood for a turn based game no matter the theme.

@DracoTarot You're not short of choice. Any those in particular catch your eye? Besides the classic Darkest Dungeon, of course 😉

@DoctorEldritch Long Gone Days looks interesting. All of them actually looks like they could be fun to play. 🙂

@DracoTarot Long Gone Days has an interesting narrative and message. Though I would not call them all interesting, I played some before and they were ok, but nothing to write home about. Templar Battleforce or Hard West, for example. Not bad, but average. Which was particularly downcasting for that last one, I like "weird west" lore, and there aren't that many good games around that. Certainly less than Lovecraftian, for example, which I suppose I can be grateful for, but still...
