@DoctorEldritch Oh yeah, you definitely won’t be able to change the plastic part, but the leatherette or velour cups do come in various sizes, at least that was the case for mine. I searched online for SteelSeries Nova Pro earcups (insanely good headset by the way 😁) and found these XL ear cups (do check out the video at the bottom of the page). They look slightly more roomy and breathable. Here's a reddit post detailing their experience with the ear cup modification.

@ZaidH Oh my, thank you for that, I didn't know that other manufacturers made cups specifically for this headset, I always assumed that you need to buy the replacement from the same brand that made the original. You live and learn. And good timing, too, as my current cups started to break down: they are made of that fake leather, and it is starting to peel off. I may follow up on that and replace my old cups with this new model, see if it makes a difference.

Good to know the headset has your seal of approval. I don't really use speakers so as not to disturb anyone, and would usually only use headphones, so I thought it made sense to invest in a good one. I still need to do the same with a desktop, though and get myself a decent model, I keep putting it off for years because of various reasons...

@ZaidH Ah, wait, it seems it is not that simple. The cushion you sent me is for Arctis SteelSeries Nova Pro Wireless, but mine is Arctis SteelSeries Nova Pro (not Wireless). May be nothing, but on SteelSeries site, if you want to replace a cushion, regular ones are not compatible with wireless models, and vice versa, for some reason. So now I am not sure if this cushion will fit, I'll need to try and find one that is not for the wireless model, if they made them. So far, I don't think they do.

@DoctorEldritch Although I haven’t tried the exact headset model you mentioned, the other Steelseries ones I did try sounded absolutely PREMIUM. I only listened to music on them, but I can imagine gaming with those would be a blissful experience as well. If my current headset ever gives out (and if my wallet allows 😬) it’s a toss-up between anything from Steelseries, the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro, or the Audeze Maxwell for me.

By the way, IEMs seem to be all the rage these days. Despite the risk of destroying your eardrums, they really do seem to be offering top-tier audiophile quality for a fraction of the price of those high-end headsets.

Ah, that’s a bummer. Always a bump in the road eh. I did find these ear cups for the wired model, though I’m not sure they’re as comfy as the ones I shared earlier. That said, the product page lists the cup dimensions, so hopefully that gives you a better idea of whether they’re roomier than your current ones.

@ZaidH I am afraid I may not be the best person to ask about headphones, when I was choosing mine, which was years ago now, I just went for the best I could see at the time. What I can say is try to go for a less bulky and heavy model, that is always a good rule of thumb, you do not need too much pressure on your head and neck.I never tried IEMs, I do not like headphones that need to go inside the ear.

That being said, recently my small travelling headphones broke down, one of the "speakers" stopped working, so I am looking for new ones. Those ones do go into the ear, but I only use them when travelling, in trains or buses or planes, that sort of thing. Could never really use big cushion headphones while in transit. I know some people can use them while walking or travelling, but I always thought they are too bulky and unstable: one quick turn of the head and they come off flying 😅

Bummer indeed, I wonder why make those cushions different in the first place. Those new ones you shared seem to fit, though I will need to find a local ones, I do not want to shipthem all the way from across the ocean 😅 And they may not be as comfortable, but then again, if wired and wireless cushions aredifferent in the first place, the wireless may feel different, I have no point of reference for that. And I need new cushions anyway.

@DoctorEldritch Yessir, you can tweak the headset’s EQ settings to get close to the sound you want, but yeah, an uncomfortable headset is such a hassle. And I totally share your fear of wearing headphones outside the house. I’m always in awe of people who wear them while working out 😯

Ooh yeah it’s definitely best if they’re available locally. If your search doesn’t lead anywhere, maybe try posting on Reddit and see if someone comes up with a better solution. They’re a handy bunch over there.

@ZaidH I suspect people who wear them while working out just use glue. That's really the only possible explanation 😅

I found them on local Amazon, so at least there is that. I'll look around some more, though.

    😂😂😂

That's great. Amazon has a policy where you can return an item within a specified period of time, so if you don’t find any good options, this might be worth a try down the line.

@ZaidH I think I may put it all on hold for a bit, I'll be going to visit my parents soon, and I do not carry headphones with me, I have my old pair that is more comfy at their place. And I do not want to buy the headphones now and waste that return period, as I will not be using them while away.

But going back to the theme of this post and @LarsJacobsen headphones, now that you've had them for a couple of weeks, do you have anything more to add about how they feel or sound, having used them for a while?

Now that sounds like a plan! Yeah, why waste the return period.
