Q1 --- [[ Refresh Rate Options/40hz ]]
Lenovo Legión Go just offer 60hz and 144hz refresh rate but what about intermediate Refresh Rate options? What happen if we want to block games at 40 fps? As far as Many games are not built in fps límiter , we need It! Fps límiter but more important than this more Refresh Rate options.
40FPS /40HZ give you both worlds : a high improvement of efficiency for battery Life while giving you a smooth gaming performance in games.
So yes, definitely we need a fps limiter and refresh rate "intermediate" options (40hz would be great) to get 40 FPS smooth or similar targets.
60hz work just with 30 fps, and 144hz Will drain battery Life very fast (keeping in mind we do not have VRR, we definitely find It essential to have fps limiter and more refresh rate options such as 40hz, regardless if Its nature)
Bearing in mind the Legion Go does not support VRR, if you neither include intermediate Refresh Rate options and fps limiter...you "kill" us as gamers.
Q2 --- [[ SSD 2242 M2 Sata III ,NGFF ]]
Will the Legion Go SSD socket be compatible with NGFF Protocol?
512gb SSD is nowadays...not enough really. So are forced to look for solutions (installing an aftermarket SSD.
I found an interesting Dogfish SSD 2242 NGFF M2 (Sata III) with 3D Nand TLC of 4TB capacity.
I now, M2 Sata III is slower than Nvme M2, but ,accepting this, bearing in mind this M2 Sata III reads and writes in 550/600mb, so the only bad consecuences I supose would be when donwloading my Steam games in the Lenovo would tale hours instead of minutes, yes but if the SSD M2 SATA III works fine for
- Windows performance
- Emulators (yuzu etc) Will work same as Nvme, same fps and performance.
- Games Will be displayed with dame graphics and fps
If I am correcta , It would be enough for me if the performance when working. Could you give me your opinión?
Q3 --- [[ Warranty/Replacing SSD ]]
If we install in our Legion Go another 2242 SSD with more storage, Will we loose our Warranty?
Even if we send to you the legión go with the original 512 SSD which Game originally in It to you (in case we need to use Warranty for another reason, sound problem for instance )
Will we loose the Warranty? Or We keep ir?
(Asus and Valve keep Warranty even changing the SSD for another different)
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your invaluable support and help.
Looking forward to hearing you soon Sergey
Kind regards

Reason: Summarizing
Hi! I sincerely hope you change your mind about 1 TB SSD, because it will force me (everyone) to spend more money to buy a 1TB SSD, open up the LEGION GO, replace the memory myself (hoping to not void the warranty when doing this), cloning the starting ssd, reallocating the free place in new ssd....
As today, we are in 2023: 512Gb are the MINIMUM/STANDARD space for a top smartphone (since you'll use this place for casual gaming, some heavy-spaced games, pictures, documents etc.)
But, for a top gaming console, able to play AAA games (and those requires a LOT of free memory on hard disk) we need REALLY big storage! So, the STANDARD/MINIMUM free space is 1TB. I hope you start with 1TB ssd... putting 512 GB only it's like to get 5 "👍" and 1 "👎", instead of having 6 👍after your explanation about no VRR on LEGION GO's screen.
I really hope you get my point 😉
To tell you the truth, I myself got my hype about buying LEGION GO pretty turned off, about to changing my mind buying it, after reading this new about no 1TB version but 512TB only.
Steam Deck, too, has 64GB for 420 bucks and 512GB version for 680 bucks. But I accept to pay WAY LESS to get a low memory, then replacing it myself, knowing VALVE won't void my warranty doing this (as long as I don't break anything while replacing my ssd). So, 420 Bucks + almost 80 bucks for 1TB SSD = 500 bucks, instead of 680 bucks for half the final memory (for people who know what they do, like me and most people out here).
So, if you put 699 euros for 512GB and, maybe in the future, 799 euros for 1TB version, well, this will make my hype going up again, since I'm saving my money so I'll nicely do the job (buying an 1TB ssd etc). The Saving will be almost nothing (since 1 TB 2242 SSD, to ME, a private person who buy just ONE ssd, will be about 100 bucks), but I'll put my hands on a LEGION GO as soon as you put it for sale.
But, to pay 799 euros (almost my monthly salary) to buy something "incomplete" I'm forced to open it, spend another amount of money to get it "complete"... you know.... honestly, makes me wanna pass!
That's why STEAM DECK is still the best and most sold gaming handled console and ASUS ROG ALLY still lurks in STEAM DECK's shadow. Don't repeat the really same mistake ASUS did. Thanks!

I'm sorry to bring you down but you wouldn't want to use windows 11 at those speeds. Practically, Windows would be using all that speed just to function and the games would take ages to download. In addition, they would load very slowly. I do not recommend that experience under any circumstances. But I understand that being so cheap you feel tempted.

The Dogfish SSD 2242 M2 SATA III is not "cheap" It costs 300€ in Amazon (4TB)
I now IS not so fast as the Nvme is , but I want the 500/600 just for launching Windows and playing games.
Some users told me that games Will be playable using this sata 3, and Windows Will Launch fast enough.
.
It is true that download a Game from Steam could take more time with 500/600mb speed, but This IS not a Big problem for me. Load stages for games would not be so slow. It is a M2 SSD anyway... i Guess,
Regarding the extender 2230 to 2242, I am confused about how to fit the red extender to the 2230 SSD ... here in this pic ,what is indicated with the Green Arrow, what IS It? A screw? If so, where can It be drilled? There is no hole under It..so, I did not understand how to use the extender to make It fit to the 2230 SSD...
Thanks alot for answering us. I hope you continue this until its release and beyond.
Q1. In Ally you can choose where the RAM is distributed. Assigned To GPU. Will we also have this in Legion Go? If so please add 2GB, 4G, 5GB, 6GB 7GB, and 8GB.
Q2. The M.2 how many PCIE lanes? The more details the better.
Q3. There is 'Friendly' QR codes on different parts of the Legion GO, does that mean we will see Repair Tutorials? (See (Picture 1) If so that would be awesome.
Q4. The controller mode FPS, it makes the 4 pins and other corners touch the hand (Purlicue) area. This is going to be uncomfortable feeling after few minutes (See Photo 2)
Q5. Touching this 4 pins on the Controller will remove the gold protected layer because the sweat has acidity level that could damage the pins. I would highly recomend to have a plastic cover on them both to make the hand more comfortable and to protect this pins from Corrosion.
Q6. The Case that comes with the system, does it have space for the charger? if not where should the charger Go? is it like steam deck case on the outside?
@Bardok84 The screw has like a washer that you press so that it tightens well. You don't have to drill anything. You put the extender on the SSD, grab the screw and the washer, tighten it well on the SSD so that it doesn't come loose, and that's it.
And yes. Windows can run at those speeds. But it wouldn't run the way people like. But if you're willing to make sacrifices in terms of speed...then, yes, it's worth it. But think about it. You won't lose a little bit of speed. You will lose A LOT.
@SergeyBalashov
Do you know this is still a Z1 Extreme, and not a Intel i9 with a Nvidia 4090? Are you sure Legion Go can really get rid of VRR feature, sure it will stand still on 60FPS or 144FPS, with no screen shutterings at all?
No intermediate framerate, no cap to 40 FPS to preserve battery juice, no VRR, but then you put an "FPS mode" on the right detachable pad? Putting an FPS mode and no VRR to preserve the smoothness of the play is like when I say "A dark sun", or "A playful boredom" or "Santa Clause in summer".
If you just wanna cut down the price, in order to stay into 699$/799€, just stick to 120FPS, FULL HD+ VRR display with 40/60/80/120hz refresh rate, instead of 144FPS, WQHD+ no VRR display! Thanks a lot!
