What are the best video games based on sci-fi or fantasy movies?

@QueenTomato A sci-fi game I enjoyed playing was Mass Effect. I also thoroughly enjoyed Lord of the Rings. The movies were entertaining and the games were fun to play.

I don't know of a good game that is based on a movie but i know a great FPS game with a backstory and philosophy that will make a very good movie if it got adapted, so let me tell you about Planetside 2.

Planetside 2 is a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter game that was released in 2012 by Daybreak Game Company. The game is set in a futuristic world where three factions fight for control over a planet called Auraxis.
The Three factions are the Terran Republic, the New Conglomerate, and the Vanu Sovereignty. Each faction has its own unique philosophy and approach to warfare, which is reflected in their weapons, vehicles, and overall aesthetic.

The Terran Republic (TR) faction is a highly centralized and authoritarian government that values order and stability above all else. They believe that the only way to maintain peace and prosperity is through strict control and discipline. The TR's weapons and vehicles tend to be highly utilitarian and industrial, reflecting their focus on efficiency and practicality. They often use overwhelming force to achieve their goals, relying on superior numbers and firepower to crush their enemies.


The New Conglomerate (NC) faction is a loose coalition of rebels, outcasts, and individualists who believe in personal freedom and individual rights. They see the Terran Republic as a corrupt and oppressive regime that seeks to control every aspect of people's lives. The NC's weapons and vehicles tend to be more rugged and heavily modified, emphasizing their "do it yourself" attitude and independent spirit. They believe in fighting with passion and conviction, even if it means taking risks and making sacrifices.


The Vanu Sovereignty (VS) faction is a group of technologically advanced transhumanists who believe in the power of science and enlightenment to transcend humanity's limitations. They see themselves as the next step in human evolution, and seek to create a utopian society based on reason, logic, and progress. The VS's weapons and vehicles tend to be sleek and futuristic, reflecting their reliance on advanced technology and alien artifacts. They believe in fighting with precision and finesse, using their superior mobility and technology to outmaneuver and outsmart their enemies.


Each faction has its own strengths and weaknesses, and players must choose which one to align with based on their own priorities and playstyle.

PlanetSide 2 has broken its own Guinness World Record for most players in an FPS battle multiple times. So one of the key philosophies of Planetside 2 is the concept of "Massive Warfare." The game is designed to accommodate large-scale battles involving hundreds of players at once, with each faction fighting for control of various territories on the planet. This means that the game is not just about individual skill, but also about teamwork and coordination.

Another important philosophy of Planetside 2 is the idea of player choice and agency. The game offers players a wide variety of weapons, vehicles, and classes to choose from, allowing them to customize their gameplay experience to suit their preferred playstyle. Additionally, the game's open-world design means that players can choose how they want to approach each battle, whether it's through sneaky infiltration tactics or full-frontal assaults.


Planetside 2 also emphasizes the importance of persistence and long-term strategy. Star Wars series is great video game adaption of the original movies at least it provided the needed visual effects that the earlier movies couldn't regarding to the technology available at that time
