As a kid, I used gaming as an escape from reality and pretended to live inside the worlds I built in game. Now, gaming still brings the same joy in my life and whenever life gets too stressful I unwind by playing. I’ve also used games as motivation to do uni work. It’s like a treat system where I reward myself with a few hours of playtime after completing a set amount of uni work done.

video games can connect people of all backgrounds and beliefs. When people engage in play of any kind, they are asked to take on a perspective that might be unfamiliar to them. Video games now provide the platform for this authentic, collaborative play that broadens perspectives and builds new communities by connecting people who may otherwise have never met. Unlike most other entertainment platforms

for me gaming impact was mainly positive on many levels as for my social anxiety it made me more open to talk to strangers and make new friends with the same interests as me, as for speaking and hearing language I guess it was the best way to practice especially that the people around me doesn't talk or speak English, finally it's a way for people to learn to be patient by being in a competitive environment and get happy when you see yourself getting better in something you love.

To say that gaming had made a great impact in my life is an understatement. Gaming has been a big chunk of my daily life since I was a kid. Heck, even my career was influenced by gaming as well - I decided to take a computer related course back when I was in high school because it's the closest that I can relate to a gaming career. I've even made it to a company that makes games - mobile only though but still I was happy working with that company because it's like living the dream job for a gamer.

Gaming also solidified my appreciation for music. It started because of Castlevania : Symphony of the Night, giving me a taste of what classical music could offer in a game. The Final Fantasy series then introduced me to composer Nobuo Uematsu who is famous for creating some of the best gaming music I've ever heard (One Winged Angel is the most famous perhaps?). I then got surprised by Trails game series and gave me a taste of what happens when you synergize classical with modern music - my response was "Really!? A metal double-pad-drumbeat on my classical piece? This is phenomenal! I love it!". Even now I keep discovering music that I didn't know I would enjoy - I'm currently playing Persona 5 Royal and the jazz music everywhere makes me bob my head everytime I hear it. Of course it goes to say that all of this music appreciation made me pick up a guitar and learn it (I'm still learning as of this writing lol) in order to do some game music covers in the future and maybe pick up piano learning as well.

Game lore and storytelling is also something that I look forward to now whenever I start a new game. Back then when games were more casual (Super Mario Bros, Ping pong, Sports games, etc) I didn't pay attention to any dialog on screen because I only thought of it as a simple past time. After being exposed to some Final Fantasy series, Trails series, and other JRPGs (and FFXIV, specially FFXIV), I now take note of the plot, story and get more involved with learning the lore since it's so much rewarding when it all comes full circle at the end of it.

Even my current attitude and open-minded approach to things in real life was influenced by so many inspiring stories in games. So yeah, I guess gaming indeed helped me evolve and by a lot.
