Does your hobby have a game?

    Hello Legion Gamers!

We started to talk about hobbies, and that got me thinking about whether games have a digital hobby alternative or not yet. Of course, hobbies like fishing or hunting have simulation games, and so do many other activities. Cooking simulators alone are numerous, and Sims games have a whole array of possible hobbies to try.

My hobby is hiking, and that, too, can be found in many games, even those not intended to this particular hobby, such as, for example, Red Dead Redemption. Known for stunning visuals, it can be a nice break to pause the story and enjoy the serenity of nature.

All the visuals of hiking in the rain and no damp clothes to dry after.

Of course, there are more sports hobbies, like biking or boxing, with many games dedicated to them. @Saka has a less widespread Kendo, but even that has admittedly dated virtual analog:

Does it look close enough to the real thing, @Saka?

Even something as exotic and mystical as Tarot reading that @DracoTarot does got turned into a game:

    Does it look legit t@DracoTarot?

So the question has to be asked: does every hobby have a game? Chances are that is so, but maybe someone here has a hobby so exclusive it escaped the clutches of digital simulation so far. Who knows, it could be yours, you only need to ask yourself:

    Can you play your hobby?

@DoctorEldritch OMW! Never seen this one before. I guess New Tarot wasn't that popular. Everything in the vid seems legit. I would like to test-drive the game for myself. Wonder if it's available on PC?

It seems there's a downloadable APK file and it should work on an android device. I'm going to give it a go. Thanks, for the post and tagging me. 😊

Here's another game called The Quarry.

All visions of the Tarot cards and their respective scenes.

@DracoTarot For some reason, Tarot cards are more often used as a collectible you need to find rather than an actual fortune-telling mechanic in games. I started to watch the Quarry vid but stopped because spoilers. I may want to try it out someday. For Halloween, maybe.

The closest i can think of is the barista visual novel called Coffee Talk
there might be more but that's the first one off the top of my head, and a game i really wanna try one day

@DoctorEldritch I've noticed Tarot cards are the most popular opinion. I'm also not sure why. Maybe because they are eye-catching or easier to associate with divination.

Apologies for the spoiler. The game has a nice feel to it but not for everyone. You can have a go on O'll Hallows Eve. Would be an appropriate game to pass some time! 😁

@thecorf our @MoriMoonpaw will be happy to know that you like making coffee. As for the games, the Barista Simulator is coming soon, that one is in Early Access now:

but it is more sim and management-focused rather than chill story-based good vibes Coffee Talk.

Ooh, @thecorf it would be interesting if you could share your knowledge about coffee here. Maybe in a dedicated topic.

I am just a drinker, but I do like fancy coffee. Since the death of my espresso machine way back in covid times (RIP) I am using french press or moka pots. I think I actually prefer moka pot, because it is crazy fast with an induction stove, but uh... I burned a couple of pots (not to death, but got oxidization on the pots giving them rainbow-brown shine) cooking the coffee deaf. So if I have a morning where I really don't want to put my ear on, I stick to the press.

@DoctorEldritch After watching the video I can tell that it's more of kenjutsu than kendo. But it works. Kendo has just restricted amount of valid strikes. There's a guy in my dojo doing both, when he fights you can see him doing some unorthodox tactics. Especially if the training is supposed to be less serious (sometimes there are special sessions that have a mix of people doing kendo and suio-ryu, so these end up being a bit weird)😅

@Saka, the universe works in mysterious ways, and as it would have it, today (January 18th) is National Gourmet Coffee Day (it's a thing!)! So if @thecorf decides to share his coffee insights, today is the perfect timing!

Is it allowed to use tactics from other arts when doing kendo, in official matches?
